“It’s so revolutionary and so simple, you’ll wonder why it’s never been available before.”
You’re damn right narrator guy in video. It is.

its a cheapo capstan winch, they work but the ones that are of high enough quality to not be deadly are as much money as a winch...and you can set it up if your wheels are bogged without a lot of winching so it doesn’t make a lot of sense. The easier thing to do would be to use a flat tow strap wrapped around the tire and connected to an anchor. its a neat trick to have in the bag but would be pretty rarely used.

I have very little experience off-roading beyond ATVs, so I've never had a need for a winch. I've used them a few times to pull things into trailers, but that's it. What makes a quality one the same cost as a winch?

These guys. The kit they’re advertising is like $450, whereas the 9500lb winch on my jeep was $350 and has been absolutely reliable.

That doesn’t seem right given that there are many more parts on a winch.

Sure, but it’s all relatively simple. A motor, a few gears, cable, switches, and beefiness. It isn’t the fastest, and it’s loud, but it works.
A better question is why 12 lug nuts, two metal circles, cable, and a bag are $400+.

I think there was a miscommunication there. I’m agreeing with you. It doesn’t make sense that the bush winch is so expensive. Even accounting for the difference between Australian and U.S. dollars, this thing costs as much as an electric winch.
Given the feedback so far, I can’t see any reason why it might be better, especially given the cost.

Ah. You said WHAT makes one the same cost, I read WHO makes one. My bad.
And yeah, I’m going to fall back on the old standby in offroading: the can sell it to people with disposable income for that price, so why not charge that much. Otherwise I see no reason they should be in the same league (other than synthetic line- stuff’s pricey)
